Meeting Highlights
The 55th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Robert H. Ivy Society of Plastic Surgeons took place April 17-18, 2009 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA. This year's program featured the ASAPS Traveling Professor (and Ivy Society member) J. Peter Rubin, MD, as well as a panel on Reconstructive Transplantation and resident abstract presentations

The 56th Annual Meeting will be held March 5-6, 2010 at the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA.



J. Peter Rubin, MD presented three talks at this year's meeting: the welcome dinner lecture, "Aesthetic Surgery After Massive Weight Loss: A Comprehensive Approach", a talk with the residents, and the closing presentation, "Technical Refinements in Body Contouring Surgery".

Abstract Award Winners:



Jonas A. Nelson, BA: 2nd Place Clinical Award Winner for his presentation, "An Analysis of Complications in DIEP and msfTRAM Flaps in Breast Reconstruction: A Single Surgeon's Recent Experience"





Rishi Jindal, MD (presented paper for Jignesh Unadkat, MD): 2nd Place Basic Science Award Winner for his presentation, "Long term survival in Composite Tissue Allotransplantion using Interleukin-2:Immunomdulation rather than Immunosuppression"





Brandon Reynolds, MD: 1st Place Clinical Award Winner for his presentation, "A Retrospective Analysis Comparing Safety and Reliability of Methylene Blue and Lymphazurin in Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsies for Skin Cancers"





Mario Solari, MD: 1st Place Basic Award Winner for his presentation, "Effects of Immunosuppressive Drugs on Regulatory Cell Populations and Function in Composite Tissue Allotransplantation"





Darren Smith, MD received the "George Manstein, MD Award for Best Overall Presentation" for his paper, "Visualization Strategies, Preoperative Planning, and Virtual Surgery in Reconstructive Transplantation"



Adjourning the meeting



Incoming president, Robert X. Murphy, MD presents outgoing president, Randy Hauck, MD with the president's plaque.




Outgoing president, Dr. Hauck presents incoming president, Dr. Murphy, with the president's gavel - a long-standing Ivy Society tradition.
